Hathaway grateful for mother's advice

Anne Hathaway has revealed that she regularly seeks advice from her mum when she struggles with movie roles.

The Devil Wears Prada star confirmed that stage actress Kate McCauley has been both a mother and a mentor in recent years.

"I always talk to my mum about the roles I play because it's wonderful to talk to another actor that you speak the same language with and ask questions," Hathaway explained.

Hathaway added that she now respects the opinions of her mother more than she did in the early days of her career.

"The periods of time have passed now when I wouldn't take her advice or I would disagree with her," she explained. "I would still obviously want to respect my mother but also, I'm my own person and I take my work very seriously.

"So there were moments in the beginning which were a little awkward. But she's got her own career - I've got my own career and we're always just so happy to be able to talk to each other about certain things and be a sounding board."

The actress split from her long-term boyfriend Raffaello Follieri in June. She recently confirmed that she will not be looking for a replacement lover on the sets of her future movies.
