Cheryl Cole has told friends that she wants the press to stop speculating about her recent marriage woes, according to a report.

The Girls Aloud star and her husband Ashley put on a public show of unity when they dined out together at London's Nobu Berkeley restaurant this week. However, Cheryl chose not to wear her wedding ring and brought her mother along with them.

Cole makes her first appearance on ITV1's X Factor tonight and reportedly hopes that the programme will help to divert attention away from her relationship.

"She is desperate to put an end to all the questions," an insider told The Sun. "But she still doesn't feel comfortable wearing her wedding ring and Ashley isn't sure where he stands.

"She's really committed to X Factor at the moment and the last thing she wants is her personal life taking away from her professional achievements."

Cheryl and Ashley split in January after the footballer's fling with single mum Aimee Walton was exposed in the press. They eventually decided to work through their issues and are now reunited.
