Guy Ritchie praised Madonna at her 50th birthday bash at the Volstead nightclub on Saturday.

Speaking in front of 90 guests, the film director said: "She looks better now than she ever has done. I'm so proud. I love her so much."

According to The Sun, Ritchie's speech was followed by Madonna's daughter Lourdes singing 'Never Alone' from the musical Fame.

The bash, which apparently cost £100,000, included entertainment from David Blaine, Kabbalah-friendly kosher food and a £20,000 tab behind the bar.

The singer reportedly spent the evening dancing with her backing dancers and children.

"She loved it when her songs came on," said an insider. "Her dancers were pulling out all the moves, breakdancing around her. It was like a final rehearsal for the tour."
