Day hit with 18-month driving ban

Darren Day has been hit with an 18-month driving ban after confessing to getting behind the wheel drunk.

The actor and singer was pulled over by police while driving through Cardiff city centre in June.

Day had earlier denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty at this morning's Cardiff Magistrates' Court hearing, where he represented himself.

In addition to the ban, District Judge Geraint Watkins issued Day with a £700 fine.

Prosecutor David Roberts told the court that Day's black Mercedes was driving on the wrong side of the road when it was stopped by police.

Roberts also claimed that Day struggled to comply with a breath test, saying: "He appeared to hesitate and sucked rather than blew."
