Feldman: 'My parents exploited me'

Former child star Corey Feldman has suggested that he was exploited during the height of his fame in the '80s.

However, the Goonies and Lost Boys actor refused to blame Hollywood for his career and personal problems, instead saying that his parents were at fault.

He told Metro: "It wasn't the industry's fault, it was my parents'. They should have been more responsible and laid the groundwork for me to build a healthy adult life. I was fortunate enough to continue my career, but that's due to my tireless dedication.

"I was 17 and already I'd become a joke to some people. As with everything in life you're measured by your achievements and people like to point out your failures. Everyone recognised me so I couldn't just get a job at the local Blockbuster. It was a very difficult time."

Feldman added that he is "opposed to the idea of creating child stars", claiming that finding fame early can leave a young actor "a shell of a person and unable to live a healthy adult life".
