The Stereophonics were chased by border police for two miles at the weekend after their tour bus driver failed to pull over for cops.

The Welsh rockers were finally stopped at the border of Canada and the US after a two-mile pursuit in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Having just played a gig in Vancouver, the band was then ordered off the bus while the vehicle was searched by border patrol. It later emerged that police officers initially wanted a quick word as the bus was parked illegally.

Frontman Kelly Jones told The Sun: "What a day. We got chased by the cops for two miles - for illegal parking. We got stopped and searched, the bus was searched and we had to unload the trailer.

"It was aggressive border control. One of the guards started talking about a guy who used to smuggle drugs through bands' equipment. I said 'Are you talking about Howard Marks? He’s my friend'. You can imagine the rest."

The quartet were finally allowed to continue their journey and are now preparing for the release of their Decade In The Sun: The Best Of Stereophonics LP launch and winter tour.
