Charlize Theron could have to pay out "substantial funds" following a claim that she wore the wrong watch at a publicity event.
The actress is faced with a breach-of-contract lawsuit by Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil.
Theron, 33, was paid a reported $20 million (£11.7 million) to star in the company's advertising campaign from October 2005 to December 2006. According to Trans World News, she was to wear their watches exclusively.
However, it is claimed that she was the face of Dior perfume at the same time and is alleged to have sported a watch from its line in March 2006.
The case will call at the Federal Court for the Southern District of New York later this month. Requests made on Theron's behalf to have the case dismissed were rejected.
