Macpherson announces model retirement

Elle Macpherson has announced her retirement from modelling.

The 44-year-old thinks she is now too old to be walking down the catwalk and is instead concentrating on business projects.

"I think I am a bit too long in the tooth to go back to all that," she said. "I think of myself more as a businesswoman these days."

Macpherson is the face of Revlon cosmetics and also produces lingerie under the Elle Macpherson Intimates brand.

In a poll of 3,000 women carried out by Debenhams in September, Macpherson was named the greatest model of all time.
