U2 frontman Bono's first New York Times column will be published in the newspaper this Sunday.
The opinion piece will allow the rock star to discuss his views on various global issues and will be supplemented with a podcast.
The 48-year-old's column, which will not be a regular Times feature, is expected to cover his campaigning against third world debt and efforts to raise awareness for Africa's AIDS pandemic.
"[Bono] is an extraordinary man who thinks deeply about his art and the major issues confronting the world," said New York Times editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal.
U2 release their new album No Line On The Horizon on March 2.
