Elton John seems to be the perfect friend as far as singer Mary J Blige is concerned, and she is constantly being showered with lovely luxury gifts from her long-time friend.

"He gave me a gorgeous, black lacquer grand piano as a house-warming gift and for my wedding day he gave me a beautiful portrait of Billie Holiday.

"He has such fabulous taste. He's just one in a million," said the lavished star.

As well as Elton's material generosity, Mary has told the Daily Mirror of how he is always there for support if necessary. "I could be in the middle of the ghetto and he'd come and rescue me," she announced.

Mary and Elton recently performed a duet at the late Ray Charles' tribute concert, singing Charles', (Night Time Is) The Right Time. Mary has also made guest appearances at Elton's shows.
