Crowe was arrested last week for throwing a telephone at a clerk at the Mercer Hotel in New York when he became frustrated at his inability to speak to his wife on the hotel's line.
Although wife Danielle Spencer understands that her husband was feeling emotional, she finds the practice of throwing telephones at clerks inexcusable.
IMDb quotes her as saying: "(Crowe) is very aware of where he went wrong. I do understand when you're apart, the loneliness kicks in and obviously the phone becomes of paramount importance. This is where it's difficult because I'm not condoning his behavior. I don't want to make excuses for him because I'm certainly not."
