George Michael and long term partner Kenny Goss plan to have a small, private ceremony soon after gay civil partnerships become legal in the UK this December.

"I'm sure Kenny and I will be doing the old legal thing, but we won't be doing the whole veil and gown thing," Michael jokes.

He reveals that his motivations aren't entirely idealistic: "I'm not very romantic about it to be honest, I think Kenny probably would be if I let him, but it's just not me. We want to do it, just in case - you never know, I could get hit by a bus and the poor man could have nothing."

Michael is not the only gay British star set to make a commitment next year - Elton John and his partner David Furnish will join them among many others.
