George Michael has denied being unfit to drive when he was caught passed out in his car.

The singer was discovered sitting in his Mercedes at traffic lights on September 30 in north London and arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and for possession of what was believed to be cannabis.

His lawyer Keima Payton said at Brent Magistrates Court that he would be pleading not guilty to the charge. Michael himself was not present for the hearing.

The defence plans to question the admissibility of a blood test taken from Michael as prosecution evidence, the court was told.

District Judge Katherine Marshall fixed a date of March 7 for another hearing and of April 23 for a one-day trial.
