Donny Osmond is to pay homage to his Welsh roots this summer by headlining a music event at Merthyr Tydfil's Cyfartha Castle.

The 'Love Me For A Reason' hitmaker investigated his Welsh roots last year, discovering that one of his direct descendants was Chief Surgeon at a Merthyr Tydfil steel works.

Now he is celebrating his Welsh heritage by playing a homecoming gig in the town on June 30.

Osmond said: "Coming back to Merthyr last year was a very spiritually uplifting experience and I wanted to do something special to mark the fact.

"I would like the concert at Cyfarthfa Castle to celebrate my family's links with Merthyr's past, present and future and look forward to this summer's homecoming concert being a very special moment in my career."
