Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has checked into a rehabilitation clinic to be treated for drug and alcohol abuse.

The 43-year-old, who serves as artistic director for luxury marque Louis Vuitton, is currently seeking treatment in a clinic in Arizona.

He previously checked into a rehabilitation clinic in the late nineties.

His business partner Robert Duffy told Women's Wear Daily: "Marc made the right decision. He'd been sober for seven years. When he relapsed, he wanted to deal with it right away.

"Thankfully, Marc recognised the problem himself and chose to deal with it. Obviously, our prayers are with him."

Jacobs' latest collection for Louis Vuitton, which was launched earlier this month, was partly inspired by Scarlett Johansson.
