Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have split up once again - and this time they claim it is permanent.

The couple have been through a rough relationship patch recently, breaking up and getting back together a number of times. However, a source claims this weekend saw what should be the final straw for the two.

"It has been rocky and it had been rocky, and it reached the end of the road," the source said. "It is definitely over - the relationship has ended."

A source close to Simpson though isn't quite so sure: "They broke up Sunday night, but who knows what the future will hold. This is the twelfth time they've broken up. Last week they felt better than ever. This week, things are rocky. Who knows what the future will bring?"
