Atkinson had affair with Ronaldo's teammate

Gemma Atkinson has been keeping a secret from footballer boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo - she once had an affair with his Man United teammate Alan Smith.

The former Hollyoaks actress did not tell Ronaldo about her relationship with Smith when they first got together seven months ago, but she has been battling with her conscience ever since.

According to the News of the World, Smith regularly invited Atkinson to his Cheshire flat when his student girlfriend was away. Both managed to keep their relationship a secret.

"It's just not fair on Cristiano, it's taking the p*** and it's just making me feel rotten," Gemma told friends. "I can't have it on my conscience."

A source close to Atkinson told the newspaper: "Gemma is riddled with guilt about having stayed silent. She really sees her future with Cristiano and has been trying to keep it all quiet because she understands how it might cause huge problems between them."
