Osbourne defends skipping dad's funeral

X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has responded to criticism that she received for avoiding her father's funeral.

Music mogul Don Arden was laid to rest in Manchester on July 25, after Sharon brought his body back from Los Angeles to the UK. Osbourne, who was estranged from her father for 20 years before they reunited in 2002, opted not to attend the funeral for security reasons.

"People criticised me for not going to the funeral. Someone even wrote that I must have a heart of stone, which was really unfair," Sharon told The Mirror. "I looked after him for years. I didn't go because I didn't want it to become a circus. We had made our peace some years back.

"I know in my heart that I did everything I could for him - and no one else can judge me on that. No one."
