Keira Knightley has claimed that fame and celebrity aren't all they are cracked up to be.

The Bend It Like Beckham actress admitted that she was puzzled by children whose only aim in life is to become wealthy and famous.

She told the Radio Times: "It frightens me when kids go, 'I want to be famous'.

"Why? Because you can get into a restaurant? You know what? If you book, you can get into a restaurant! 'I want to be rich and famous'. Go and work on the stock market."

The star added that she was tired of people focusing on her looks, commenting: "It's not me, it's something other people have created."

Knightley confessed last week that she had allowed advertisers at Chanel to boost the size of her cleavage by tampering with photographs of her.
