Jill Dando killer refused bail

Barry George was sentenced for life in 2001, two years after Dando was shot and killed outside of her London home.
He was convicted after forensic scientists found a speck of residue from the gun that was used in the killing in the inside of his coat pocket.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission however has claimed that too much emphasis has been placed on that evidence.
George was refused bail today by the High Court. Mr Justice Treacy said: "I am not persuaded at this stage that this is one of those rare cases where I can take the view that I could order the release on bail because the appeal will be successful."
A second appeal against George's conviction will be made at the Court of Appeal in November.
