A man has been arrested after Kirsten Dunst had a number of her belongings stolen while she was staying at a hotel in New York.

The Spider-Man actress was checked into the SoHo Hotel when thieves broke in and took cameras, an iPod and a $13,000 handbag that contained credit cards and her wallet.

Jarrod Beinerman, 33, from Brooklyn was caught as he was leaving Brooklyn Supreme Court on heroine sale charges, according to the New York Post.

His lawyer James Kirschner told a judge: "(Beinerman) tells me they were filming a movie that day (at the hotel). That's why he was there. He went there to check out what was going on."
