Rihanna's record breaking single 'Umbrella' was originally written for troubled singer Britney Spears, according to reports.
Hip-hop star Rihanna broke records earlier this year when the single stayed at number one for ten consecutive weeks in the UK charts, making it the longest running single of the decade.
But WENN has revealed that American music producer Tricky Stewart has said that Spears never got back to him about the track and therefore missed out.
Singer/songwriter, Taio Cruz said: "I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished 'Umbrella'. As soon as I heard it I said, 'That is a smash, I have to have it,' but he told me it was on hold for Britney.
"He waited but Britney's people never called him back".
