The actress started the court-ordered work, which stemmed from a driving under the influence charge earlier this year, on Monday at the blood donor centre.
Michael has claimed that Lohan has always carried out charity work and that she is pleased with the occupation.
He told People magazine: "I asked her how it was going and she said she is really enjoying it. She's happy.
"When she was younger I had her at hospitals, visiting cancer patients and sick kids. I know she wants to do stuff like this, mission work."
Lohan was sentenced to four days in jail for her second DUI charge, but it was then reduced to just two days when she agreed to serve ten days of community service as well.
She has from now until January to serve 24 more hours in prison and she is on a three year probation. She must also complete an 18-month alcohol education programme as part of the order.
