Amy to be cleared of trial-fixing involvement

Amy Winehouse is expected to be cleared of any involvement in her husband's alleged trial-fixing plot.

Her partner Blake Fielder-Civil was arrested in November and later charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. He has been accused of trying to escape GBH charges by attempting to pay off his alleged victim James King.

Winehouse became implicated in the plot last month and was quizzed by police, who believed that she offered £200,000 to pay King to drop his statement against Blake. However, there is said to be no conclusive evidence of her involvement.

"The evidence-building is purely circumstantial at this stage and is not enough to charge Amy with anything," a Crown Prosecution Service source told the News of the World.

"If she did give money to her husband, this is not a criminal offence and is not enough to prove she was involved in a conspiracy. Unless new evidence comes to light it is likely the case against her will be dropped."
