Britney Spears reportedly swallowed more than 100 pills prior to being taken to hospital last week.

The singer was held at LA's Cedars-Sinai hospital after a custody dispute at her home on Thursday night.

She was released on Sunday but subsequently lost visitation rights to her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline over fears concerning her mental state.

The Mirror has now claimed that she took a large amount of drugs along with a cocktail of vodka, anti-flu syrup and an energy drink known as a 'Purple Monster' in the 36 hours before the incident.

A source said: "She ended up taking 20 Clenbuterol diet pills, 18 herbal speed tablets, 18 Piriton anti-histamine tablets, 12 Vicodin painkillers, 10 sleeping pills and eight antacid reflux tablets.

"She also drank one bottle of Pepto-Bismol, two bottles of NyQuil and two bottles of OxyContin painkiller, and took a further 10 anti-hangover drugs and six Ritalin tablets which are usually used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)."
