Hanks reveals he is an Aston Villa fan

Tom Hanks has announced that he is a supporter of Aston Villa Football Club.

The American actor was speaking on the red carpet for his new film Charlie Wilson's War when he revealed that he was a fan of the Midlands-based team by donning a club scarf.

Hanks said: "I'm big on Aston Villa. The name is just so sweet. It sounds like a lovely spa!"

Talking about the team's recent form, he added: "There are a lot of people out there who think Aston Villa are going to take the premiership. And I hope they do."

Other celebrity Aston Villa fans include Prince William and Ozzy Osbourne.
