Emma has moved out of the North London home that she shared with the actor, who plays Mickey Miller. She has taken their seven-month-old son Harry with her.
It is not the first time that the couple have split. They parted ways shortly after Joe battled meningitis in November 2005, but eventually decided to give their relationship another try in 2006.
A friend told The Sun: "They tried to make it work, but realised it wasn't going to happen."
The source added: "It's sad for both of them - but life goes on."
