The singer upset her family by tying the knot with Stephen Belafonte in private last June and wants a "huge celebrity wedding" to make amends.
A source said: "Mel has made up with her mother Andrea and wants to get all her family and friends together and have a huge celebrity wedding in April - and she has even asked her fellow band members to be bridesmaids.
"She wants all of her and Stephen's family to be at this wedding to make amends for them not being able to be present last time."
The source added that Mel and her mother were now on good terms after falling out over the marriage, saying: "They've all been spending a lot of time together and Andrea and Stephen get on like a house on fire now. Mel is delighted."
Andrea previously said Mel's family were "worried sick" about her following reports that Belafonte was once convicted of assaulting his ex-lover Nicole Contreras.
