The New York Police Department has insisted that it has no plans to interview Mary-Kate Olsen about the death of Heath Ledger.

Reports suggested that Olsen, who was a close friend of the actor, would be quizzed after it emerged that she was the first person to be called by the masseuse who found Ledger's body.

However, Detective Joseph Cavitolo told People.com: "Absolutely at no time are we going to be interviewing her. We never had any plans to interview her. At this point we are just waiting for the Medical Examiner's report."

Ledger was found dead at his apartment in Manhattan on Tuesday. A day later, it was announced that the cause of death would not be determined for at least 10 days, after the results of an initial autopsy were inconclusive.
