The actor, who was estranged from Jolie for five years, said he would be delighted if rumours that she is expecting her second baby with partner Brad Pitt were true.
The pair are believed to have ended their rift last Christmas after falling out when Voight told a TV show that she had "serious emotional problems".
Jolie was reported to be pregnant with twins after she drank water all evening at the recent Critics' Choice Awards.
She also cancelled a forthcoming trip to Europe and wore a maternity-style dress to Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The Deliverance star, 69, said: "It's wonderful news that she's having another child, if that's true.
"I can't count on anything the press says about her because there is so much said but she has certainly captured the imagination of the press."
