Police were called by the couple's housekeeper at midday yesterday after she spotted a car parked on the pair's driveway.
The man, who identified himself as a freelance journalist, asked the housekeeper which home belonged to Pitt.
LA officer Karen Smith confirmed that the 25-year-old has been arrested for trespassing and is currently in custody on a "private person's arrest".
It will be at the discretion of the housekeeper whether charges are pressed on the reporter, claims Smith.
Pitt and Jolie were not at their home during the visit.
