TV chef Keith Floyd has been hospitalised after he collapsed on his return from a six-week trip to Thailand.

Floyd, who suffered a similar complaint a year ago, fell ill at The Chesters pub in Newcastle-under-Lynne.

Green told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's probably exhaustion, he was in hospital a year ago with a similar complaint.

"He recovered from that, so let's hope he recovers from this. We understand he's stable."

Pub landlord Glen Geldard said: "He is not doing very well. I've just been down to the hospital now."

Floyd was cleared by doctors in 2006, when he believed he was suffering from
lung cancer
. He was banned from driving in 2004 after crashing his car while three-and-a-half times over the legal alcohol limit.

The cook, who is famous for his love of red wine, shot to fame in the '80s, presenting shows such as Floyd on Food and Floyd's American Pie.
