Ruben Royce pleaded guilty to a total of 34 offences at a court in Honolulu, Hawaii, and will be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
In October 2005 he broke into Holloway's Hawaii home, threatened the actor and his wife and stole their wallets and car.
He has carried out several other robberies and was recently also convicted of burglary, firearms violations and reckless endangering.
Prosecutor Maurice Arrisgado said: "Basically, he was driving around looking for fancy cars, nice homes and picked certain ones for home invasion."
He said Holloway and his wife were "just scared". He added: "They thought they were going to get killed. This guy was very vicious and had no hesitation in pointing the gun in their face."
Teri Marshall, mitigating for Royce, said he did not know Holloway was famous until after the robbery.
