The singer became embroiled in a war of words after the Dancers' Alliance group urged people to boycott Tuesday's LA audition for her forthcoming tour.
An email revealing their concerns was leaked to the press last week, prompting her publicist to respond that Lavigne "prides herself in treating everyone on the tour with the utmost respect and consideration and pays them well within the industry standard".
However, her management team was forced to abandon the audition at the last minute and agreed to begin new talks over wages.
The Alliance said on its MySpace page: "As of February 4, 10:30pm, Avril's management has cancelled the audition tomorrow and has opened up a new conversation with the agencies. Thanks for everyone's support on this issue."
Lavigne has promised that her tour, which kicks off in May, will be a "great experience" for fans.
