Spears' dad retains control of estate

Britney Spears' dad has been given control of her affairs until Valentine's Day.

Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet were granted temporary conservatorship last Friday after the singer was hospitalised for the second time in two months.

The commissioner extended the arrangement until February 14, allowing the pair to make decisions involving the 26-year-old's estate and take control of her hospital visitors.

He also banned Britney from contacting her friend and 'manager' Sam Lutfi and extended a restraining order against him issued last week.

It was earlier reported that Lutfi had already violated the order and had refused to open his door for lawyers to serve it.

Attorney Adam Streisand argued yesterday that Spears was opposed to her father taking control of her affairs, saying the arrangement was "causing her more agitation and more distress".

However, Jamie's lawyer Vivian Thoreen insisted that he should continue to be conservator, saying: "He's not here to take over her assets. He's here to get her medical help. He's here to take over while she's healing."
