Dad: 'I contributed to Amy's problems'

Amy Winehouse's dad has said he is partly to blame for his daughter's drug addiction.

The singer was recently reported to have returned to her old ways after leaving a London rehab clinic last month.

Her father Mitch walked out on her mum in 1996 after a 13-year affair with a co-worker who later became his second wife.

He admitted that his failure to leave the marriage sooner may have contributed to Amy's problems during an appearance on upcoming BBC show One Life: Rock Star Parents.

He said: "Perhaps deep down she felt her parents were splitting up, she could not rely on them to stay together and that it was about time she learned to look after herself.

"I thought Amy was over it pretty quickly - in fact it felt at the time Amy felt no effect at all. Maybe she could not articulate it in words, but she certainly did it with music."

He added: "It is easy for me to say it is my fault, and that had I been a better parent this would not have happened. But who knows whether it would or not?"

He also claimed his daughter's song 'What It Is About Men' was inspired by his affair.

Reverend Bob Larsson has said he would like to perform an exorcism on Winehouse.
