
The actor plays experienced DJ John Paul McQueen on the hit Channel 4 soap, but in real life he was clueless about how to work the decks until he approached Tim Garbutt, from dance band Utah Saints, for help.
Sutton eventually tried out his new skills at a club in Liverpool and managed to impress the crowd with his efforts.
"James had agreed to do a show to find out if he could DJ in real life but he'd never actually touched proper decks in his life," Tim told the Daily Star. "I spent hours with him teaching him the basics so he could mix some fail-proof big tunes like Justice and Daft Punk together.
"I got this excited call from him afterwards saying how amazing the experience was and how the crowd went nuts, so I'm really proud of him. I think we may have a new DJ in our ranks."
