Angelina Jolie has been diagnosed with a form of diabetes which affects pregnant women, according to reports.

According to Star magazine, the actress has been forced to wear oversized shoes after experiencing swelling in her legs and feet.

She has reportedly developed gestational diabetes, which causes high blood sugar levels in some mothers-to-be. The condition is commonly treated with diet and exercise but can lead to Type 2 diabetes, which is thought to increase the risk of pregnancy complications.

A source said: "She found out about a month ago and has been trying to keep it under wraps. She's sick and irritable and feels heavy and weak. She's been seeing a nutritionist about it."

Jolie is rumoured to be expecting twins with partner Brad Pitt. The couple already have biological daughter Shiloh, as well as adopted children Maddox, Pax Thien and Zahara.
