Duffy defends Winehouse, Spears

Duffy has admitted she thinks the publicised problems of celebrities such as Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears and Pete Doherty can be a good thing.

Speaking to Clash magazine, the Welsh chart-topper said: "In a really weird way, I think those kind of people show others it’s alright to be human - for all their faults."

However, the singer doesn't want to follow a similar path to her musical contemporaries.

"I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, so don’t say I’m some kind of clean-slate, virginal angel," Duffy said. "But I’ve not got any issues right now, which is good."

The 23-year-old described becoming famous as being "mental".

"It was a slow process but as soon as the doors were open it went mental," Duffy admitted. "I mean, I get chased by people on motorbikes and things. It’s not something that anyone can really prepare you for."
