Police say Speight was 'distracted'

Police officers who spoke to TV presenter Mark Speight hours before he disappeared have said he sounded "distracted and deep in thought".

Speight was reported missing on Monday after he failed to meet Carmen Collins, the mother of his fiancée Natasha, who died of an overdose in January.

The 42-year-old was last seen on Chamberlayne Road in London on Monday afternoon and, after being approached, he said he "needed to leave".

In January, Speight was arrested in connection with Collins's death but was later dismissed as a murder suspect.

Both families appealed for Speight to return, saying they were "deeply concerned" for him.
