Simon Cowell has denied reports that he bought a house in the US for Leona Lewis.

It was claimed last month that the music mogul has splashed out £2.5 million on an LA home for his protégé.

He was rumoured to have made the purchase to reward the singer for her international success.

However, he told The Sun: "No! I didn't buy her a house. If I did that I would be broke every time I had a hit."

Lewis became the first British female to top the US singles chart in 21 years with 'Bleeding Love'.

She recently revealed that she was "scared" of the X Factor judge when they first met.
