Daniel Craig has claimed that he never worries about ending his career as a washed-up actor.

The James Bond star said that as long as he looked after the people who really mattered to him, he didn't have to be concerned about a downturn in his professional fortune.

Craig plays failed movie star Joe Scott in the new film Flashbacks of a Fool.

Speaking about the role at the London premiere, he said: "You are meeting the character when he was on the downslide. He is at a stage when he could have had everything in his life but he has thrown it all away."

When asked whether his own career could follow a similar path, he replied: "It's part of the profession. Who knows what the future holds for me?

"It could turn on a six-pence as we all know it can, but I think the important thing is if you look after the people around you, the people who do genuinely care about you, then you'll survive anything."
