Doherty is "healthy, lucid" in jail

Pete Doherty's manager has denied claims that the Babyshambles singer has been taking heroin in jail.

A newspaper, which ran photographs of Doherty in his prison cell, reported that the 29-year-old was having heroin smuggled in for him despite being on the substitute drug methadone.

His manager Adrian Hunter told Now Online: "In our contact with Peter since his incarceration he has been healthy, lucid and positive.

"Peter is trying to carry out his sentence with dignity and should be allowed to do so without intrusion."

Doherty was jailed on April 8 for breaking the terms of his probation.
