Peter Kay performs surprise charity gig

Peter Key performed a 15 minute stand-up routine at a charity event for cystic fibrosis last week.

The Phoenix Nights star was a surprise guest at the fundraiser, which was organised in tribute to murdered 11-year-old Joe Geeling.

Kay heard about the cystic fibrosis sufferer's death near his Bolton home and turned up unannounced to perform for 400 guests, according to The Mirror.

A guest commented: "What a gesture. And he was funny."

The comedian also raised £16,000 by auctioning tickets to his new TV series Britain's Got The Pop Factor.
