Blaine shocks diners by eating glass

David Blaine has shocked fellow diners by eating glass in a Manhattan restaurant.

The illusionist was enjoying a meal with friends including poker player Phil Ivey when he was challenged to demonstrate an amazing feat.

A source told the New York Daily News: "David was doing a bunch of tricks, but Phil wanted to see something spectacular. He offered David $10,000 to eat a glass from the table."

Blaine then stunned onlookers by smashing a "rather large" sake glass and eating every shard.

The magician's spokesperson confirmed the story, saying: "This did happen and was completely real."
