Robin Williams's daughter has insisted that there is no bitterness in her parents' divorce.

The comedian's wife Marsha Garces Williams began divorce proceedings in March, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple have been married since 1989 and have daughter Zelda, 18, and 16-year-old son Cody.

But Zelda said the break-up was not acrimonious and praised her parents for staying married for as long as they did.

She told People: "It wasn't a complete surprise. It's never easy to end. [But] there's no bitterness - we're all a family."

She added: "I just want my parents to be happy. And they did last 18 years - a lot longer than most!"

Williams also has 25-year-old son Zachary from his first marriage to Valerie Velardi.
