Simon Cowell has been granted the same car parking privileges as the Queen.

The reality TV star was allowed to park his £200,000 car outside the national theatres he visited while filming Britain's Got Talent, according to The Sun.

He reportedly requested the permission so that he wouldn't be mobbed by fans on his way to work.

In Birmingham bollards were knocked down so that Cowell could be dropped off outside the Alexandra Theatre, while at the Hackney Empire he was given the Lord Mayor's parking spot.

"Simon likes to get his own way and was adamant that Tony [his driver] should be able to park the Roller right outside every theatre," said a source.

"He hates walking anywhere and the idea of being mobbed fills him with fear. So we contacted all the relevant councils and asked them if they could make a special dispensation.

"The producers sorted it out verbally on the phone. Simon doesn’t have a special sticker or anything.

“It wasn’t always easy as only the Queen and senior members of the Royal Family get to park wherever they like."
