Jack Jordan was convicted of fourth degree stalking and one count of second degree aggravated harassment after following the actress for more than two years.
The former mental patient, 37, was acquitted on two other aggravated harassment charges but may face up to a year behind bars.
A jury at New York's Manhattan Supreme Court heard that Jordan, from Maryland, had turned up at Thurman's home and on movie sets. He also bombarded her with cards and letters, one saying his hands should be on her body "at all times".
Thurman, who attended the week-long trial with her parents, told the court that she had been "completely freaked out" by Jordan's "frightening" behaviour.
Her parents also testified that he had phoned them and threatened to kill himself if they did not pass on messages to their daughter.
Jordan had told police that he believed he was meant to be with the star after seeing her in a movie.
