Ellen DeGeneres to marry girlfriend

Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she is to marry girlfriend Portia de Rossi.

The 50-year-old made the revelation during a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, according to the Associated Press.

She told the audience that the couple would be taking advantage of the California High Court's recent decision to allow same-sex marriages in the state.

She has been dating the former Ally McBeal star, 35, since 2004.
