End of play for the day

After a relaxed first day of play, shooting alternate shots all the way through from the 1st till the 18th hole, Europe have come up trumps against the might of the US, scoring 55.5 holes to America's 34.5.
The breakdown is as follows:
Bradley Walsh and Ross Kemp (8) vs William Baldwin and Alice Cooper (10)
Bruce Forsyth and Chris Evans (7.5) vs Meat Loaf and Richard Schiff (10.5)
Ruud Gullit and Jodie Kidd (13) vs Jane Seymour and Richard Burgi (5)
Ronan Keating and Damian Lewis (14.5) vs Michael Johnson and Patrick Duffy (3.5)
Ian Wright and James Nesbitt (9.5) vs Aidan Quinn and Chaz Palminteri (8.5)
Highlights included Jane Seymour's final shot of the day, whereupon she unexpectedly managed to hole her ball out of the sand, leaving her almost in tears as Richard Burgi spun her round in a big, manly, lift-up hug. Alice Cooper earlier managed a similar feat but no one did the same for him!
For Liz from London, who asked whether there were any women playing in the tournament - the only two women of the tournament - Jane Seymour and the extremely willowy Jodie Kidd - both did well for themselves today, showing off good golfing skills, although Jodie's "high breeding", as Ronnie Corbett called it, shone through with the trouncing of Seymour and Burgi on 13 of the holes. Ronnie Corbett was certainly onto something when he told Digital Spy last night that Kidd was one to watch!
Tension finally appeared on the course with the battle for supremacy at the 18th hole between the final teams of Wright, Nesbitt, Quinn and Palminteri, who at the time were 8.5 and 8.5, neck and neck. Success for Europe came with badly placed sand shots for both the Americans, who tried their best to hide their annoyance at the loss of the "tightest game" all day.
New pairings for the final day of play will be announced later this evening
